Unfortunately, we cannot grant you privileges to view or download your thesis, nor can we send you your thesis directly. This is due to our licensing agreements with ProQuest Digital Dissertations & Theses, which limits access to current UW students, employees, and on-campus visitors. Unless you specified that your thesis or dissertation be Open Access and paid the OA fee, you will need to either borrow the print copy of your thesis through your local library using interlibrary loan (ILL) or purchase a copy from ProQuest.

ProQuest/UMI offers options for purchase of theses and dissertations:

You can search by your name and/or title of your work. In addition, we can assist you in locating the UMI publication number for your thesis. Contact us by email at

This FAQ provides more information about the dissertation/theses databases at UW:

If you are currently associated with a college or university, check with the library to see if a subscription to the ProQuest dissertation/theses database (or a similar product) is available. If you visit Laramie, another option is to visit Coe Library and access your thesis through the public terminals (which have access to this database) and download your thesis.

FYI, the UW Alumni Association purchases access to select databases for UW alumni (unfortunately, access does not include theses and dissertations). This link is to a library guide with instructions on accessing these databases:
