The library provides a large-scale flat scanner that allows the user to scan textbooks and other documents. The device is called the "KIC" scanner and it is located on Level 2 at Coe Library.
Use of this device is free to library patrons (UW-affiliated and public patrons). Be sure to read the directions before using the device to ensure that your documents are scanned and delivered. Ensure that the email address entered is correct.
The software provides a confirmatory message that the message was "sent" to the email address that was entered. It does not confirm that the email address was valid. However, if the email address is incorrect, only an "undeliverable" message is sent to the Library Circulation account. Unfortunately, the scanned documents are not included. Users are responsible for ensuring the address is correct. There is no way to retrieve undeliverable scans and the scanner memory is cleared each time the user exits the program.
To ensure that the scanned documents are available, some patrons email the documents AND save to a thumb drive or the cloud.

Note: the HP document scanner located in the computer lab (Room 202) of Coe Library is managed by UW Information Technology, not the library. Address any concerns or questions about this device to the IT Lab Assistant located in that computer lab.
