There are some faculty who put textbooks on reserve for courses that they teach, but not all professors do this. Check course reserves by clicking here. You can search by course or instructor.
If you are wondering whether the library has the books for your courses, the library usually does not have copies of current textbooks. Providing multiple copies of textbooks would be cost prohibitive. The library may have one copy of a textbook but there is no guarantee. The patron who is the first to check it out has full use of it. You can place a hold on the textbook, but that does not obligate the user to bring the book back early. It only means that the patron cannot renew it.
This link is to the University Store where you can find out the ISBN of the textbook for your class. Once you have that number, you can search the UW Libraries catalog through the Number search option. Select "ISBN/ISSN" from the available choices. If the book is available, it will be displayed. If the book does not come up in the search, click the "Prospector" button to search our partner libraries. It is highly unlikely that the books will be available, but it is always worth searching.
