Current issues of print journals and magazines are found primarily in Coe, but also in the Brinkerhoff Geology Library, and the Learning Resource Center because of subject matter. The print issues are less than 4% of the Libraries' approximately 88,000 journals, magazine and newspaper subscriptions. The rest are online or bound with other issues into a comprehensive collection.

The most recent 10 years worth of bound journals are kept on Level 1 (basement) of Coe Library. In addition, many of these journals are available digitally through databases. Journals older than 10 years are kept in the Library Annex, which is located on the west side of campus.

To determine what else is available to library users, you can search:

  • The UW Library Catalog for specific titles or by subject. Select "Journals" in the "Search Scope" box or click on "Advanced Search."
  • Click on the "See All Research Tools" button in the "FIND" band on the UW Libraries main webpage. Select "eJournals" and search by different parameters.

If you are searching for a specific article, you can fill in the "Citation Finder" form to see if it is available in our online resources. If not, that page will let you obtain the article through Request It.
