Go to the Libraries' web page and click on the "Databases" icon. You will be taken to a webpage where all the databases are available by title and subject. You can click on "P" in the title list at the top of the page and then select "PubMed." Another option is to click on "Health Sciences" in the subject list, then select one of the links there (PubMed is listed in all those subject lists). Click on "PubMed" in the listing. If you access PubMed in this manner, the "Find@UW" option will be active.
Perform a search and click on one of the titles. Some titles will have a "Free Article" or "Free PMC Article" note that you can click to get to full-text. If "Free Article" isn't shown, select individual articles and you look for the "Find@UW" button in the upper right of the screen. By clicking this link, you can retrieve the full-text of the article. Note: You must sign onto the proxy server from off-post locations for the "Find@UW" function to work.
If you get the message "sorry full-text is not available", then use the "Request It" option to request the article. The library will obtain a copy for you.
In addition, this page on a nursing library guide explains how to use PubMed and directs you to useful tutorials.
