Psychology

A great resource for locating peer-reviewed articles in psychology is the PsycInfo database. Opening PsycInfo defaults to the advanced search, which includes a box you can mark to limit to Peer Reviewed / Scholarly journals. Type in several keywords that describe your topic, then click the search button. To get to the actual articles, click the Find@UW button if you don't see an immediate link to PDF or HTML full text.

Note that not all articles in peer-reviewed journals are peer-reviewed. Letters to the editor and opinion pieces do not typically go through the peer review process.

PsycInfo also allows you to limit searches to specific kinds of research methodology: empirical studies, meta analyses, systematic reviews, and so forth. Scroll down the page in the advanced search and watch for the methodology section.

Education

We recommend the ERIC database and Education Source for peer-reviewed articles in education. These databases allow you to mark a box to limit your search to peer-reviewed or scholarly articles.

Additional Information

There are several education research guides that may be helpful.  If you can't find what you are looking for within twenty minutes, ask a librarian!
