Borrowing Books from Off-Campus

Absolutely. We are your main library to use. We use a system called Interlibrary Loan. The first time you use Interlibrary Loan, you will be prompted to set up an account with your contact information. Log in with your WyoWeb username and password. After setting up your account, simply click on the Interlibrary Loan button to automatically fill out request forms.

Books from the UW Libraries are sent out within 24-hours during the business week. Books borrowed from other libraries may take 1-3 weeks, so please plan accordingly. Articles requested through Interlibrary Loan are generally delivered within 1-3 days.

Be sure NOT to use the "Pull for me" option to request books. This will only slow down your request.

International students please note the following to expedite delivery:

  • Please make sure you include a good street address and mark OUTREACH as the pickup location.
  • Chapters and  articles are sent as PDF’s to your Interlibrary Loan Account, so check for the items there.
  • We ship books by FEDEX.

Borrowing DVDs from Off-Campus

An off-campus student is defined as a UW student in the Outreach or Distance program who does not live in Laramie. Off-campus students may borrow DVDs for 2 weeks, which includes mail time both ways, through the Interlibrary Loan service. Off-campus (Outreach) students need to only use the Interlibrary Loan service to get books or movies mailed to them. Please don't use the "Prospector" or "Page for me" services. This will only delay you getting the items you need.

If you are a student who lives in Laramie but not in student housing, your borrowing privileges are the same as students who live in the dorms. You are not considered an Outreach or Distance student. DVDs are checked out to you for a one-week period.

If you have any questions about when the DVDs are due back, check your account.
