Services provided by the Libraries' circulation units.
QuickSearch
The QuickSearch search engine on the Libraries' homepage is the starting point for locating items. Enter your search terms and press Enter. Then on the results page use the facets on the left side of the screen to refine your search.
Course Reserves
Faculty-selected materials for specific classes are available at the Coe Help Desk or the Geology Circulation Desk. Click here to access the Course Reserves webpage. Increasingly these are available online, which requires logging on with a WyoOne username and password.
Laptop / iPad Checkout
UW students, staff, and faculty may borrow Windows and Mac laptops (for in-library use) and iPads (seven day use) at the Coe Library Help Desk. Borrowers must sign an Equipment Borrowing Agreement (PDF).
Linked Patrons
To designate another library patron to pick up and/or check out materials to your library account, fill out a Linked Patron form (PDF) and turn it in to any library circulation desk.
Online Renewals
You may use several ways to request renewals of checked-out material. Be aware that renewals are not always possible. If you have questions about renewals call 307 766-3190, or email libcirc@uwyo.edu, or stop by a library help desk.
- My Accounts: Online way to renew library materials or those borrowed from Prospector before they go overdue.
- On-line Renewals: Web form to request renewal of checked out items.
- Interlibrary Loan: May request a renewal for items borrowed from other libraries. The lending library decides whether or not to grant the renewal.
Prospector
UW students, staff, and faculty may request books and media from Colorado libraries through the Prospector Alliance. Public patrons do not have access to Prospector. Here is a link to the Prospector catalog. Prospector loans have standard loan periods and renewal limits. Off-campus (i.e., not residing in Laramie) UW students, faculty, and staff must use "Interlibrary Loan" instead.
Interlibrary Loan
- UW students, staff, and faculty can use the service known as Interlibrary Loan to request items and articles from other libraries.
- A scan of UW Libraries’ owned journal articles and books chapters may also be requested.
- Any questions about Interlibrary Loan may be directed to the Interlibrary Loan Office on Level 6 of Coe Library, by phone (307-766-5168), or by email elsreq@uwyo.edu.
Please contact the UW libraries (libcirc@uwyo.edu) or Disability Support Services (udss@uwyo.edu) if you have any questions about accessing the library.
Electronic Resources
The UW Libraries strive to ensure licensed or locally-produced electronic resources are accessible and compliant with Section 508 or other standards outlined by the United States Access Board.
- Licensed electronic resources include eJournals, eBooks, streaming media, and online databases. Many of these have accessibility help pages.
- Locally-produced electronic resources include Digital Collections documents and the Libraries' website.
If any library user can't access the Libraries' electronic resources, ask for assistance at any Help Desk at any UW Library.
