The following are library services of possible interest to patrons with disabilities.
Staff at the Help Desks of our Libraries will pull and hold materials for patrons if the aisle width will not accommodate a wheelchair, if the material is too high to be accessible, if call numbers are difficult to read, or if it is inaccessible for any other reason. Those needing retrieval assistance should contact the appropriate circulation desk (see contact information above), with call numbers of volumes from that libraries' collection. Speed of fulfillment is dependent upon the availability of staffing. Alternatively, UW students, staff, and faculty may use the Request It service to have the book pulled (aka "paged"). Materials will be pulled and ready for pickup within 36 hours, Monday through Friday.
Individual, small group, and class Instruction in the use of the Libraries is available at Coe Library, the Brinkerhoff Geology Library Circulation Desk, and the Learning Resource Center Circulation Desk. Individuals needing instruction should inquire at the Help Desks, use the Tutorial library guide, or email email@example.com. This library guide is for faculty wishing to arrange for instruction.
Inquire at the Help Desks of Coe Library or the Brinkerhoff Geology Library for assistance with scanning documents on the public scanners in their area. Photocopy machines are no longer available in the libraries. The Information Technology Lab Assistants in each UW student computer lab is able to assist with using scanners hooked to UW computers.
Users wanting to suggest titles for the Libraries to purchase should fill out online Request Items for Purchase form and submit it electronically to the Collection Development Office.
Research assistance available to users include help using the Libraries' catalog and databases, help with eJournals and eBooks, locating needed information or helping patrons determine where in the libraries to find collections, offices, or specific call numbers. Such assistance is available at the Help / Circulation desk at each of the branch libraries. Calls may be made to 307-766-2070; toll-free phone: 1-800-442-6757. Email inquiries can be made using the "Email" widget located on the main library webpage or directly to firstname.lastname@example.org. Questions may be texted to 307-460-4336. An FAQ Knowledge Base may be searched for answers to common questions about library services and resources. You can also set up more extensive research consultations with a Liaison Librarian with research using the links on this webpage.
Staff throughout the Libraries prepare informational library guides for almost all University disciplines, library services and general topics, such as using eBooks or how to cite sources in formal writing.
The UW Libraries catalog is the starting point for locating items. Basic and advanced search options are available.
Faculty-selected materials for specific classes are available at the Coe Help Desk or the Geology Circulation Desk. Click here to access the Course Reserves webpage. Increasingly these are available online, which requires logging on with a WyoOne username and password.
Laptop / iPad Checkout
UW students, staff, and faculty may borrow Windows and Mac laptops (for in-library use) and iPads (seven day use) at the Coe Circulation Help Desk. Borrowers must sign an Equipment Borrowing Agreement (PDF).
To designate another library patron to pick up and/or check out materials to your library account, fill out a Linked Patron form (PDF) and turn it in to any library circulation desk.
You may use several ways to request renewals of checked-out material. Be aware that renewals are not always possible. If you have questions about renewals check with any circulation desk.
- Library Account (formerly My Accounts): Online way to renew library materials or those borrowed from Prospector before they go overdue.
- On-line Renewals: Web form to request renewal of checked out items.
- Request It: May request a renewal for items borrowed from other libraries. The lending library decides whether or not to grant the renewal.
UW students, staff, and faculty may request books and media from 40-some Colorado libraries through the Prospector Alliance. Public patrons do not have access to Prospector. The Prospector catalog may be searched directly or linked to through the UW Libraries catalog. Prospector loans have standard loan periods and renewal limits. Off-campus (i.e., not residing in Laramie) UW students, faculty, and staff must use Request It instead.
UW students, staff, and faculty can use the service known as Request It to retrieve and hold books from the UW collections, scan journal articles or book chapters, and request materials that are not only available locally. Questions about Request It are answered at the Interlibrary Loan Office, Coe Library room 237 (phone: 307- 766-5168 or by email: email@example.com).
