As an academic research library, we a great resource for historical information but not the best resource for genealogical or family history research. The Wyoming State Library, county libraries, and county genealogical or historical societies are better places to conduct genealogical research.
The librarians at the UW libraries do not perform research on the behalf of patrons, although we do our best to refer patrons to useful information.
If the person you are researching is connected to the history of the University of Wyoming, we recommend that you contact the Emmett Chisum Special Collections at Coe Library. They hold many documents related to UW history, as well as Wyoming history. This link will take you to their library guide: http://libguides.uwyo.edu/chisum
This link is to a list of Biographical and Genealogical databases available at the UW Libraries. Authorized patrons of the UW Libraries (students, staff, and faculty) have access to the subscription databases such as Ancestry Library Edition and Heritage Quest databases. Non-UW patrons have limited access through the public terminals.
Although not a part of the University Libraries, the American Heritage Center (AHC) is a great resource for historical information. The following link will take you to their website, which includes contact information and a listing of their holdings: http://www.uwyo.edu/ahc/
