The UW Libraries subscribe to the Lexicomp database. Authorized users ( UW students, faculty, and staff) have access to full text. This link will take you directly to the Lexicomp database. Log in using your WyoWeb/UW username and password if you are off-campus.

Installing the Lexicomp App

The Lexicomp app is easy to install for Android and iPhone/iPad/iPod. Start the installation using a desktop computer to locate and read the instructions, and set up your account. Once you have that all set up on the Lexicomp site, grab your phone and follow the instructions on the desktop webpage to install the app and get set up.

1. Go to the UW Libraries database page on a desktop PC. Click "L" in the databases by subject, then find Lexicomp Online. If you are off-campus, you will be prompted to log onto the library / UW server with your WyoWeb/UW username and password.

2. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on the blue "Mobile Access Codes" box.

3. A new page will open with the words "Access your Lexicomp app" in a blue box on the webpage. To the right of that blue box is a drop-down menu to select Android or iPhone/iPad. Select the type of phone and then select "New (app is not installed)" from the drop-down menu directly below the phone type.

Read those instructions and follow the prompts for Step 1 to set up your account using a computer. You will need to copy/paste the authorization code that appears. Make sure that you use your UW email address to register. If you don't, the app won't recognize that you are affiliated with UW and may try to sell you a full-priced subscription. You will also receive a PIN at your UW email account that you will need to enter to complete the registration.

Once you have registered, follow the instructions in Step 2 to download the app to your phone and install it. Once installed, log in and select the Lexicomp libraries you want access to. Installation of the app is complete, and you can access the app from your smartphone.
