How do I locate case law in LexisNexis?

University of Wyoming Libraries no longer has a subscription to LexisNexis or Nexis Uni. Below are some other options for finding case law.

This link is to a research guide from the UW College of Law Library about finding case law.

Westlaw Campus Research is a subscription database that is available to UW students, faculty, and staff.

LegalTrac is another database for finding case law.

Public Library of Law (PLOL) (no UW log-in required)

This link is to all listing of all the Law databases.

 

Search Google Scholar for Case Law: This search engine provides only the case outcome, unlike some other resources that provide analysis.

 

Go to scholar.google.com

Click the "Case law" button under the search box.

Type in name of case (e.g., Moss v Spartanburg).

On that page, the cases are sorted by relevance. The second result is the Supreme court case and the first is the lower court of appeals. Therefore, be sure to read the headings for each search result to be sure you select the correct case.
