Priority for research help and other assistance if given to UW students, faculty, and staff. Public patrons are welcome to ask questions about the UW Libraries' collection. UW students, faculty, and staff must provide their UW e-mail address. Public patrons need to provide a primary email address so we know where to send an answer. This information is protected and not shared.
It is helpful if you are as specific as possible when you ask a research question. Information such as the research topic, the class or project, what keywords or subject terms you have used while searching, etc.
Questions are reviewed and answered during the semester on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. One check of the question queue is made during weekends. The queue is not checked during holidays. During semester breaks the queue is only monitored during weekday hours. If assistance is needed after hours, use the library catalog, databases, or guides to locate information.
